When a guitar from a big box store won't do...

Building acoustic guitars is my passion. All BK Guitars are built one at a time with a great deal of love and care. I use both classic woods like mahogany and walnut, as well as, more exotic woods like koa and mango. You can have a truely 'one of a kind' guitar by using a more exoctic wood on a classic model like the concert. Or, you can use a classic wood like a quilted sapele on the more modern small jumbo model. Whether classic or exotic, only the best of soundboards and back & side woods are used. Each soundboard is tuned to bring out the best possible sound in the wood. I try to take advantage of the potential locked in each piece of wood.

We also pay attention to every detail. By the time I have finished your guitar, I will know every square inch. I spend time doing things the factories cannot. The back braces are laminated master sitka and mahogany for added strength and aesthetics. We line the kerfings with a thin layer of mahogany for added strength and the aesthetic beauty it provides. The soundboard bracing is tuned by hand on each guitar. Every piece of wood on a BK Guitar is cut, shaped and sanded by my own two hands. We use a unique finish process that brings out the beauty of the wood. No stains are used to hide inferior woods. You'll know what I mean when you see the pictures on the Production Schedule page.

I build two models of acoustic guitars. I hope one is the perfect model for you. (A new mid sized model is in the works. I am building one for our local worship minister.)

The first is a small body guitar, based on the OM body style. I call it the 'Concert' series. This model produces a "larger than the body" sound. It has a great over all tone and good separation. You'll enjoy the classic look that goes along with the great sound.

The second model is the 'Small Jumbo'. This guitar has a soundboard surface larger than a typical dreadnought guitar, but it is still smaller and easier to play than the typical jumbo. The shape is more modern than the 'Concert', with or without the soft cutaway. You will find it to be a great on-stage guitar. (Matt Roberson is currently using an SJ in his worship ministry.)

As you review the pictures on the various pages of this website, you will see the quality of the materials and the superior craftsmanship. While you are at it, see if you can imagine what beautiful sounds our Creator locked in each piece of wood. That's exactly what I do and I have made it my mission and my passion to unlock the potential sound in every piece of wood I use to build your guitar. As you play these guitars, you will make that newly unlocked potential come to life.
